Aaliyah Dana Haughton and Aarti Mann

Aaliyah Dana Haughton came into the limelight in 1994 when she debuted her first album Age Ain't nothing but A Number. The album came out as Gold in the year she turned 15 years old. This collaboration was strongly influenced by R. Kelly, and put the singer onto the scene. In 1996, she debuted her second album One In A Million with Jermaine dupri and Timbaland. It contained the number one hit track If Your Girl only had known. Following the success of this album, Aaliyah won international acclaim as an R&B artist. In 2000, she appeared in the romance and action film Romeo Must Die alongside martial artist Jet-Li. Joel Silver, film producer and director of Romeo Must Die caught her at an award ceremony. In 2002, she was part of the film vampire Queen of the Damned based on the Anne Rice book. The Matrix Sequels was her first appearance in The Matrix Sequels. She has also been on The Matrix Reloaded (2003) as well as The Matrix Revolutions (2007). She was nominated four times at the Grammy Awards in 1999, 2001 and 2002. She is an Indian-American of her first generation, born in Connecticut. Mann is her stage name. Mann comes from her married name Mankad. Aarti is at once Aarti as well as Aarti. Majumdar. While she started out with minor film and TV roles, her acting started to gain momentum around the turn of the century. Other notable work includes Grey's Anatomy, Suits and Leverage. In addition, she was a part of several commercials that included Volvo as well as other major auto brands. She is a resident of Los Angeles where she continues acting as an actress.
